A guide to exploring

Choose one of the 54 individual Torah portions and a numerical method. Click a Hebrew word or enter a number to find matching passages within that portion. Gold highlighting identifies the matching words.

Whole word joins attached parts such as ב + ראשית. Word part treats the separate BHSA units independently. Dictionary form uses the dictionary spelling while showing the text as it occurs.

“Find shared values” finds at least two word occurrences with the same value in a single verse, sentence, clause or phrase. Repeated occurrences of the same word count; choose “Require different spellings” to require at least two different consonantal forms. In dictionary mode, it compares dictionary forms.

Reading the results

Ketiv follows the written consonants. Qere uses an explicitly recorded reading, falling back to ketiv where none exists. Vowels and cantillation appear in the text but do not contribute to gematria. Empty readings do not count as words; unavailable values are not matches.

Sentences, clauses and phrases come from BHSA linguistic annotations, not punctuation guesses. Units crossing a parasha boundary are restricted to the selected portion and marked. Whole words must be fully inside the selected unit to count; switch to word parts to inspect a unit that splits an attached form.

Verse numbering follows BHSA’s Hebrew Bible divisions. Portions are individual readings, not calendar-based combined readings. Equal numbers are a textual observation, not evidence of historical intention.
